Domaine du Clos de Tart

Le Clos de Tart is the monopoly of the family Mommessin. The estate was created in the twelfth century, in 1141 by Cistercian nuns: The Bernardin de Tart, the abbey of Tart. It has had three owners since its founding. After Bernardines the Marey-Monge family seized it during the French Revolution. The Mommessin family bought it in 1932 at an auction. Mommessin sold its trading house to the Boisset group in 1997 but has kept that the Clos de Tart.

Le Clos de Tart has seen many administrators. The current director is Sylvain Pitiot since 1996. Remarkable winemaker, he inherited a vineyard in very good condition. Today, the wine of Clos de Tart is going from success to success and reached heights only equal to the fabulous Clos de Tart terroir. It is now regarded, rightly as one of the best wines of Burgundy and France.
